JEAN RENO

Juan Moreno y Herrera-Jiménez known as Jean Reno (born July 30, 1948) is a French-Spanish actor. Working in French, English, Japanese, Spanish and Italian, he has appeared in numerous successful films such as Crimson Rivers, Godzilla, The Da Vinci Code, Mission: Impossible, Ronin, and Léon: The Professional. Reno was born Juan Moreno y Herrera-Jiménez in Casablanca, Morocco. His Spanish parents were natives of Sanlúcar de Barrameda and Jerez de la Frontera (Spain), and had moved to North Africa to find work and escape the dictatorship of Francisco Franco. His father was a linotypist. His mother died when he was a teenager, and he has a younger sister named María Teresa ("Maite"). Reno was raised Catholic. He moved to France at the age of seventeen and studied acting in the Cours Simon School of Drama.

Due to his tall frame (1.86 m (6 ft 1 in)), he mostly played brutes early on in his career. He later appeared in romantic-comedies and action films. Reno's career began in French cinema, where he appeared in many of Luc Besson's films, including Besson's first film, L'Avant dernier. The two have continued to work together throughout their careers, in films produced, written or directed by Besson. Of the films they have done together, the ones that have achieved the most critical and commercial success include: Nikita (1990), theEnglish-language films The Big Blue (1988), and Léon: The Professional. Additionally, Reno did the voice-over for Mufasa in the French-language version of The Lion King, a role originally performed by James Earl Jones.

Reno has starred in such high-profile American films as French Kiss (1995) with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline, Mission: Impossible (1996) with Tom Cruise, Ronin (1998) with Robert De Niro, and Godzilla (1998). Reno turned down the role of Agent Smith in The Matrix. He has not neglected to work in French productions either—e.g., Les Visiteurs (1993) (which was later remade in English as Just Visitingin 2001), The Crimson Rivers (2000) and Jet Lag (Décalage horaire) by Danièle Thompson (2002), which was also a box-office success in France. In 2006, he had a prominent role in the remake of The Pink Panther and its sequel, playing Gilbert Ponton, the partner ofInspector Clouseau opposite Steve Martin, and also portrayed Captain Bezu Fache in the Ron Howard film The Da Vinci Code. Among his most successful films are Les Visiteursand L'Enquete corse.

Ha trabajado en Francés, Inglés, japonés, español e italiano, ha aparecido en numerosas películas de éxito como Ríos de color púrpura, Godzilla, The Da Vinci Code, Mision Impossible, Ronin, y Léon: The Professional. Reno nació Juan Moreno y Herrera Jiménez en Casablanca, Marruecos. Sus padres españoles eran naturales de Sanlúcar de Barrameda y Jerez de la Frontera (España), y se había trasladado al norte de África en busca de trabajo y escapar de la dictadura de Francisco Franco. Su padre era un linotipista. Su madre murió cuando él era un adolescente, y tiene una hermana menor llamada María Teresa ("Maite"). Reno fue criado como católico. Se trasladó a Francia a la edad de diecisiete años y estudió actuación en la Escuela de Arte Dramático Cours Simon.

Debido a su altura (1,86 m (6 pies 1 pulg)), suele interpretar villanos al principio de su carrera. Más tarde apareció en comedias románticas-y películas de acción. Gérard Xavier Marcel Depardieu (born 27 December 1948) is a French actor and filmmaker. He is a Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur, Chevalier of the Ordre national du Mérite and has twice won the César Award for Best Actor. He also won the Golden Globe award for Best Actor in Green Card and was nominated for an Academy Award for the title role in Cyrano de Bergerac.

Gérard Depardieu was born in Châteauroux, Indre, France. He is one of five children of Anne Jeanne Josèphe "la Liette" (née Marillier) and René Maxime Lionel "le Dédé" Depardieu, a metal worker and volunteer fireman. His mother did not want more children and told Depardieu that she had tried to abort him with knitting needles. He has stated that as a child he would inspect his hands for scars from the needles.

Depardieu spent more time on the street than in the classroom and left school at 15.

At the age of 16, Depardieu left Châteauroux for Paris. There he began acting in the new comedy theatre Café de la Gare, along with Patrick Dewaere, Romain Bouteille, Sotha, Coluche, and Miou-Miou. His breakout film role came in 1974 playing Jean-Claude in Bertrand Blier's comedy Going Places. He studied dancing under Jean-Laurent Cochet, and went on to become one of France's most renowned actors. In 1986, his international fame grew as a result of his performance as a doomed, hunchbacked farmer in the film Jean de Florette. Five years later he won a César for his starring role in Cyrano de Bergerac.

Gerard crossed over into the American film market by co-starring in the 1990 film Green Card. He has since acted in many English language films including The Man in the Iron Mask, 102 Dalmatians, and Last Holiday.
